Hey peeps, normally I write based on something that I have found that is of value to my readers. But for this one I am reaching out for help. I don’t know what a normal Christmas is anymore. I have two kids and a wife, which means I have to accommodate two families. Over the last three years I have been trying to make everyone happy by running around on Christmas day and visiting everyone. This year my wife and I have sat down and really tried to figure out what is best for our situation on that day.
So, in the past we would wake up do presents fast with the kids as Santa comes to our house in the morning. Then by 8:30am we are in the car and driving half hour to my in-laws house for presents and breakfast. Then we are back in the car by 10:30am to go to my mother’s house for presents and brunch. Then it is a 45 minute drive home at 1pm to drop everything off get ready and go back to one of the houses for dinner. This has been our schedule for the last three years, talk about a pain in the butt.
This year we have put a lot of time into thinking of the best solution. I think it is time we create our own Christmas traditions in our house. As traditions are important, they create the memories we all remember and love from when we were kids. So this year everyone can come to me. Santa comes to my house every year, and I don’t want to leave so early. So I will hold breakfast every year and any one in my family is invited to come. Then we alternate dinner each year.
I put this out there not to air my laundry but to ask you, what are your Christmas traditions and how have you overcome the dilemma?
I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!

We solved that a few years ago. We now have Inlaw and Outlaw years, so noone has to leave early or run around on Christmas day. Every other year we get a full day with our family. On the year we don’t see them for Christmas, we see them on Thanksgiving, as we do the same during that special season too.
Merry Christmas to you and your family
We have our family gathering the week before so then our kids can do their own thing with their family at Christmas.
