Schools are supposed to prepare us for the real world. They teach us skills like: English, math, history, geography. They run us around a racetrack so we don’t get fat and teach us where babies come from and how to avoid becoming a teenage parent.
Here’s the thing though. Isn’t personal finance and real lessons on how to manage money important too? I mean doesn’t the whole world run on money changing hands?
Parents are letting kids down nowadays, our grandparents and great grandparents used to really push austerity. Today, most North Americans are totally blinded by all the shiny offers and strong marketing campaigns the banks and creditors use to get people into debt.
If parents aren’t going to teach their kids about managing money, who will then?
