I don’t want to scare anyone, but with the summer coming to a close all too soon we know that the holiday’s are just around the corner. This means that for most of us there will be gifts and lots of them, especially if you have children. Just a healthy statistic is that most people spend approximately $350-500 per child. I would like to give you some ideas as to how to not spend all of that in one month as a last minute shopper.
Try to budget about $175 per month for the next 3 months for gifts, and start shopping now. Every major retailer has their Christmas catalogues printed and ready to go. I know I already have my wish book and my oldest daughter has already looked through, marked and memorized pages for me to reference!
As well, look through the flyers on a weekly basis as most retailers start offering sales on toys and outdoor goods at the start of a new season and we all know that there are not too many sales close to the big day.
Last but not least Toys R Us has issued the list for the hottest gifts this year along with the pricing so that we can eliminate the guess work. Some stores will actually allow you to reserve these products in advance.
I don’t mention the holidays to remind you of the extra expenses coming up in the next few months. I do this because I want to make sure that you become a smart shopper and don’t have to run around and spend a whole month’s budget on gifts. Then you can just sit back, relax and watch the madness that you used to be involved in.
This works and all you have to do is answer this one question, are you a last minute shopper?
