I post deals on our facebook fan page every Thursday. I try to seek out the best deals that could apply to everyone. Now every once in awhile I sometimes forget the deals that I posted, here is an example of one of those times.
Last Thursday I posted the deals to our website, one of the deals on this list was for Shoppers Drug Mart. The deal was if you spend $70.00 or more you get 18,500 reward points, which converts to about $30.00.
I went to do my shopping on Friday; this deal wasn’t starting until Saturday which of course slipped my mind. As I was at the checkout counter ringing through my items I hit the $70.00 and the cashier paused and looked at me and said “You know if you are free to come back tomorrow you will benefit as we have a deal on tomorrow where you could get 18,500 reward points for this purchase.” She also added “Instead of putting everything back or having to collect it all again I will bag it for you and keep it at the checkout.” Shocked that this cashier recognized an opportunity and took it to go that little extra mile to ensure I got my money’s worth I played it off as if it was the first time I heard about this deal. (Plus I felt a little silly for forgetting that I had known about this)
With tons of enthusiasm I had agreed to come back the next day however there were some items that I needed right away. The cashier rang through my items and must have picked up on my enthusiasm, and as she went to hand me the receipt she asked if I ever completed surveys. My response was a clear yes the cashier circled the survey link to ensure I could find it and go to the right website and wrote her name beside it.
Ever since I was trained and educated on providing exceptional customer service I recognize things like this, normally it is poor customer service that I notice so I was extremely pleased to finally see something awesome.
Thank you Shoppers Drug Mart for training your employees to recognize opportunities to better assist your customers.
