In order to create a long lasting impression in the start of your relationship to your client you need to want for them the experience you desire for yourself. You would want all of your concerns addressed with an agreeable resolution. You would want your questions replied with explanatory answers. You wouldn’t want to feel cheated or like you weren’t getting full benefits that is available to you but just not offered.
Creating amazing expectations from the start is ensuring you and your client will have an understanding of each other’s responsibilities and loyalties with no complications to arise in the future of your relationship. You want each and every encounter with your client to become a new learning experience to gain a positive outcome for your relationship. It takes time to build a trustworthy relationship with anyone. Try to remember, your best friend was once a stranger too.
You need to want to learn more about satisfying your clients. What types of hobbies they enjoy. How large their families are. Things as simple as asking what a long weekend entailed. What activities took place and what encouraging statements you could say in order to show your interested in knowing what they do with their spare time. Also, knowing things like birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions etc will show you are honestly trying to communicate and connect with your client.
You need to personalize your relationship. If your best friend asks you if she should buy a pair of shoes at a ridiculous price, you both know she doesn’t need a new pair, you’re not going to tell her to splurge, because you are their friend and you’re looking out for their best interests. You would want to apply the same attitude when beginning a new relationship with your client.
When contacting your client for any reason be sure to try asking inquisitive open ended questions for the purpose of having your client release some possible recent life changing experiences, stressful times, happy recent encounters or even if your client is just celebrating their mothers birthday over the course of the weekend.
You need to create the atmosphere where your client feels comfortable enough to talk about day to day things with you and know that you have a general interest in how they live their lives. You need to ask questions like where did the celebration take place? How was the food? Did your mother enjoy the gifts? If you knew about the celebration beforehand and have already created a long lasting relationship with your Client and feel comfortable with this, you could always send a bouquet of flowers to your clients home or place of event if the information is knowledgeable.
