Well folks it’s that time again when retailers across the country shine up the debit machines, and tune up the cash registers. That’s right, it’s back to school shopping time. Next to the holiday season this is the best time of year for retailers. I came across an article this week that states the average cost for an elementary student to go back is $550, whereas the average high school student is over a thousand dollars. I thought to myself that this is crazy, until I sat down and figured out what I have spent over the last few years when my daughter goes back. After a new back pack, pencils, pens, markers, pencil case, cloths, shoes, some electronic device, and a haircut. They were right! For a 9 year old to go back to school it costs over $500.
So this year I have done some searching as I wanted some ideas as to how to cut costs on my child’s back to school costs. I found some interesting facts that make sense. For example a pack of 20 regular number 2 pencils costs $1, and the sharpener costs .85 for a total of $2.09 after taxes. The 4 pack of mechanical pencils which is what most kids want as they come in all different colours, shapes etc, cost up to 7.90 after taxes a difference of $5.80. As I went further through my own spending and found out that I didn’t need to buy the mechanical pencils, the new “Hello Kitty” roller backpack (her old one was still good), a pair of shoes for each outfit, and an ipod, it looks like I will be able to save some money this year, so I can spend in more important things like going out with my family or in a essay writing service reddit for the really difficult assignments.
In closing, before you go out shopping do an inventory of what your child really needs, make a list, and set a budget. There will be no impulse buying for me this year, are you ready for back to school shopping yet? I am!

with 3 kids (when they were younger) it was outrageous getting them back to school. Alot of their supplies can also be found at your local dollar store as well.
Happy Back to School Kiddies!
