How many times have you been through the drive-thru because it’s convenient and you really don’t want to stand in line? You’re in a hurry to get back home as the kids are starving only to find out your order is not right AGAIN! WOW, now you have a tough decision, do you go back out and waste that time for the right kind of greasy cheeseburger, do you eat their mistake, or do you have cereal?
Are we setting our expectations too high by expecting the bare minimum? These kind of mistakes happen so frequently that when it doesn’t we are happy about it. “Yes you actually gave me what I paid for, thanks for doing your job!”
The worst part of the whole situation is your kids now have to wait again, or eat something different than what they were all excited to eat and by now the whole family is cranky, so it’s turned out to be a terrible start to the evening.
I would love to see how much food is wasted, and how much money is given out in food credits, just because the people filling the bags are in such a hurry to get the orders out, they aren’t really thinking of the person and their family in the car.
Why should I have to open the bag, let the heat out so that I can be sure the order is right? Maybe what these fast food restaurants need is a separate docking station where all the food for the drive through enters. ONE or TWO people in this station are completely responsible for loading each order into the bag. At the end of the shift, they get awarded for ZERO MISTAKES on the order!
Oh and get this, as I am writing this blog I get a call from my neighbour. He went to the same fast food joint and ordered his son a kid’s hamburger meal. What did he get? A kid’s nugget meal, with apple slices instead of fries with a toy for a girl. WOW !!
The worst part of this, your burger could still come out with ketchup and mustard when you ordered it plain, but that’s a WHOLE separate discussion!!
